Connect the controller using the console's connect button
- Turn on your Xbox One console.
- Insert AA batteries (or rechargeable batteries from the Xbox One Play & Charge Kit) into the controller.
- Turn on your controller by pressing and holding the Xbox button until the controller turns on. (The Xbox button is the larger circular button located in the middle of the controller near the top.) The Xbox button will flash, indicating it's not yet connected to a console. If the Xbox button is lit solid, the controller is already connected.
Note If the controller doesn't turn on, check the batteries. If you're using rechargeable batteries, make sure that they're charged.
4. Press and release the connect button on the console.
- On Xbox One S, the connect button is a small circular button located on the front, below the power button.
- On original Xbox One, the connect button is a small circular button located on the side, around the corner from the disc tray.
5. Within 20 seconds, press and hold the black connect button on the back of the controller until the controller's Xbox button quickly flashes a few times, indicating that it's searching for the console. It switches to a solid light when it's connected. (The connect button is a small circular button located on the top of the controller as you hold it in your hands.)
Your controller is now connected to your console. Repeat this procedure for every extra controller you want to add.
To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose the console to rain or moisture
To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not place a container filled with liquids on top of the Console
To avoid electrical shock, do not open the console. Refer servicing to qualified personnel only.
Do not expose the console to cigarette smoke or dust
When setting up the console, avoid places subject to excessive cigarette smoke or dust. Cigarette smoke residue or dust build-up on internal components such as the lens, may cause the console to malfunction.
Do not touch the console connections
Do not touch the metal parts or insert foreign objects into the console or the console connections.
Moisture condensation
If the console or the disc is brought directly from a cold location to a warm one, moisture may condense inside the console or on the disc. Should this occur, the console may not operate correctly. In this case, store the device in a dry area until the moisture has evaporated (this could take several hours).
Do not subject the console to violent physical shock
Do not throw or drop the console or its accessories, and do not knock the console or its accessories against other objects. When carrying the console, do not subject it to any type of violent physical shock. This may damage the disc or cause the console to malfunction.
Avoid damaging the exterior of the console
Do not apply solvents, and do not place any rubber or vinyl materials on the surface of the console for an extended period of time. Doing so may damage the plastic surface or cause the paint to peel off.
Cleaning the exterior of the console
When cleaning the exterior of the console, be sure to turn off the power and disconnect the AC power plug from the electrical socket. Use a dry cloth: do not use abrasive pads, detergents, scouring powders, solvents (e.g. Alcohol, gasoline, paint thinner or benzene), or other liquid or aerosol cleaners.
Never disassemble the console
There are no user-serviceable components inside the console. Additionally, there is a risk of exposure of (laser) radiation as well as electrical shock hazard.
Do not place the console in an unstable location
Ensure you place the console on a surface that is flat, level and stable. Allow all four feet of the console to be in contact with the surface.
Prevent the console from overheating
Do not block any ventilation openings on the console or power supply. Do not place the console or power supply on a bed sofa or other soft surface that may block ventilation openings. Do not place the console or power supply in a confined space, unless the space is well ventilated.
Do not place the console or power supply near any heat sources, such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or amplifiers.
Do not leave the console in a car with its windows closed (particularly in summer) as this may warp the exterior of the console or cause the console to malfunction
