PS4, PS4 SLIM, and PS4 PRO Setup instructions

1. Place the PS4 console on a stable, flat surface with space around the vents for airflow. Ensure the ventilation openings are not blocked and leave sufficient clearance around all sides of the console.
2. Connect the HDMI cable from the PS4 HDMI OUT port to an HDMI input on the TV.
3. Connect the AC power cord to the PS4, then plug it into a power outlet. Use only the supplied AC power cord or a compatible replacement approved for use with the console.
4. Optional: For a wired internet connection, connect a LAN cable from the PS4 to the router or modem. For Wi-Fi, do not connect a LAN cable.
5. Turn on the TV and select the correct HDMI input.
6. Press the power button on the PS4. The power indicator should blink blue, then turn white.
7. Connect the DUALSHOCK 4 controller to the PS4 using a USB cable, then press the PS button to pair it.
8. If no picture appears after the power indicator turns white, check that the HDMI cable is securely connected and that the TV is set to the correct HDMI input. If the issue persists, turn the console off by holding the power button for at least 7 seconds, then turn it on again. If there is still no picture, start the console in Safe Mode by turning it off completely, then holding the power button until you hear a second beep.
9. Follow the on-screen steps to set up internet, date, time, user profile and system settings. Install any system software update if prompted.
10. If a child will use the console, set up parental controls before use.

Additional model notes: PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro

• PS4 Slim does not include an optical digital audio output. Use HDMI audio or audio output from the TV or connected sound system.
• PS4 Pro supports 4K and HDR output when used with a compatible TV, HDMI input, HDMI cable and supported content. Check the TV settings if 4K or HDR does not display correctly.

If the fluid gets on to your clothes, skin or into your eyes, immediately rinse the affected area with clean water and consult your doctor. The battery fluid can cause blindness.

Do not allow the battery to come into contact with fire or subject it to extreme temperatures such as in direct sunlight, in a vehicle exposed to the sun or near a heat source. Never attempt to open, crush, heat, or set fire to the product or the battery. Do not leave the battery charging for a prolonged period of time when the product is not in use.

• To avoid electric shock, do not open the console casing. Refer servicing to qualified repair personnel only.
• Do not use the console, power cord or connected accessories during an electrical storm.
• Use the console in a well-lit room and keep an appropriate distance from the TV screen.
• Stop use immediately and seek medical advice if gameplay causes seizures, blackouts, altered vision, eye soreness, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, motion-sickness symptoms, or pain or discomfort in any part of the body.
• Radio waves from wireless features may affect medical devices such as pacemakers. Consult a doctor or device manufacturer before use if this applies.
• Do not use wireless networking where prohibited, including some medical facilities, or near fire alarms, automatic doors or other automated equipment.
• Allow adequate ventilation. Do not cover the console with cloth and do not allow dust to build up around the vents.
• Keep the console away from water, moisture, excessive dust, smoke, steam, direct sunlight and heat sources.
• Place cables so they do not create a trip hazard. Do not place the console or accessories on the floor where someone may trip or stumble.
• Take regular breaks during play. Avoid prolonged continuous use of the console and controller.
• Use only compatible cables, controllers, accessories and discs. Do not disassemble, modify or attempt to repair the console or accessories.
• Supervise children when using the console. Review age ratings, parental controls, privacy settings, spending controls, communication features and online functionality before allowing access to online features. Monitor children's online activities and discuss safe online behaviour.
• Avoid prolonged use of headphones, headsets or sound set at high volume levels. Listening at excessive volume for extended periods may cause permanent hearing damage. Start at a low volume and increase only as needed.
• Before use, create or sign in to your own PlayStation™ Network account and confirm your personal settings are correctly configured. If you intend to sell or transfer the console in the future, perform a full system initialization to remove personal information and saved data.
